Hello Crafty Friends!
Hope you all are enjoying your summer and staying healthy and safe during the pandemic. Today I have a Home Decor Canvas project to share. I used a brand new paper collection from Mintay, called "Lady" There are matching cardboard stickers too. I think this would be perfect for a teen bedroom or even make as a gift.
Supply List:
Mintay "Lady" Paper pack and Cardboard stickers.
Helmar Assorted glues: I will list what glues I used in my project instructions below
Blank Canvas (For this project I used a 11x14 size)
Prima Flowers, Prima Shabby Treasures Resin frame and Crystal
Lace, Scissors, Scoreboard and Paper trimmer, stiff paintbrush
Stickles Glitter: Diamond and Stardust
Memory Hardware Artisan Powder in "Parthenay" ( Umber color)
First, choose one of the 12x12 papers you would like to use for your main theme. Measure and trim off any excess paper. My piece measured 11 inches across. Take your base paper and then glue down onto your canvas, even with the bottom edge. I used Helmar Craft and Hobby PVA glue. This glue is made for using with paper and Cardboard. It dries clear too. I added another strip of multi green paper at 11 inches across and about 2 1/2 inches wide and glued this on the top edge of my canvas.
This is how your canvas should look so far
Next I took a piece of lace and measured and cut to glue across the top edge where my two papers meet. This will give it a nice finished look. I used Helmar Fabric glue to adhere my lace to the canvas. It dries clear and has a flexible bond and your embellishments will stay in place once you glue them down.
Next I start planning what stickers and cut apart elements I'd like to use to decorate my canvas. I'm such a fan of fuzzy cutting, so I picked out some of the paper images and fuzzy those out. I inked the edges with some distress ink. I also cut out one of the journaling cards, I wanted to use as my main focus on the center of my canvas. Set those aside.
I took my Prima resin frame and some Memory hardware Artisian powder. I used a old stiff paintbrush and brushed some of the Artisian powder lightly over the raised areas on my resin frame. You only need a tiny amount of Artisian powder. Alittle goes a long way. This gives your frame a nice antique look. Take your journaling card and glue to the back of your frame. Then add some Helmar 450 Quick Dry adhesive to the back of your frame and adhere this to the center of your canvas.
Next I picked out some pretty Prima Flowers and placed them to the upper right corner and lower left side below my frame. I used Helmar Fabric glue adhere my lowers to my canvas. This glue works especially well when you are working with fabric, lace and other embellishments. It dries clear and sets quickly.
I chose one of the title/sentiment cardboard stickers and adhered to the top of my canvas using Helmar Craft and Hobby PVA glue. I love how fast this glue dries and keeps my embellishments in place. I also added some of the sentiment sayings stickers scattered around my canvas.
Then I started to add my fuzzy cut embellishments to areas on my canvas. One of my favorite Helmar products are their Scrap Dots! They add such dimension and wow factor to all your projects. They dry clear in about 10 minutes but I recommend letting them dry for 48 hours.
To finish off my canvas, I added a Prima Crystal to the middle of her hair bow. Took Stickles glitter in Diamond and Stardust, and added some sparkle to her dress form, perfume bottles, roses, and shoes.
Hope you enjoyed this project idea today, and I have inspired you to try making one for yourself. Thank you for visiting the Helmar Worldwide blog! Until next month, take care and stay safe.
Happy crafting!
